Alberta New Democratic Party in Canada endorses Hands Off Venezuela
- 05 October 2005
Roland Schmidt, co-chair of the New Democratic Youth of Alberta, motivated for the resolution. The HOV resolution was one of the only ones to receive applause from the convention floor (3 times!) Youth activist Phil Goebel also expressed the need for solidarity with the Venezuelan people. The final vote was 200 for and 1 against. Many of the delegates bought HOV buttons and about 100 signed a HOV petition and protested the comments of Pat Robertson.
