On 6 August, hundreds of peasants and their supporters marched in Caracas on the first anniversary of the Marcha Campesina Admirable (the Admirable Peasant March). They were demanding the fulfilment of the agreements they reached with the government at the time, an end to contract killings of land reform activists and in defence of Chavez’s land redistribution programme.

Juan Guaido and a small group of mutinous troops posted a live video on Twitter this morning to call on "the military and people" to overthrow the legitimate president Nicolás Maduro. In response, the government is calling on supporters to assemble at the presidential palace.

The failure of the 23 February “humanitarian aid” provocation on the Venezuelan border was a serious blow for Trump’s ongoing coup attempt. There were mutual recriminations between self-appointed Guaidó, Colombian president Duque and US Vice-President Pence. The US could not get a consensus from its own Lima Cartel allies in favour of military intervention.
